Backpacking Iloilo-Guimaras: Part II

DAY 2: GUIMARAS ISLAND

(Check out my previous post: EXPLORING ILOILO–GUIMARAS: DAY ONE)

As part of our Iloilo trip, we planned to go an a side trip at Guimaras. It’s just a 15 minute boat ride from Ortiz Wharf in Iloilo for only PHP 14.00. Guimaras is known for producing the World’s sweetest mangoes and for its not so hidden lush green beaches. So upon arrival at the Jordan Wharf in Guimaras, we went to the Jordan Tourism Office to help us out with our day tour. They helped us arrange and customize our day tour. And since it’s the national election day, we were advised that most of the offices and tourist attractions might be closed. Nevertheless, all we wanted to do is to finally have a taste of the sweet mangoes and beach bum at Guisi Beach. For only PHP 1,000 we got to rent a tricycle for the entire day, so here’s a rundown of our trip!

PITSTOP: MANGO PIZZA

I’m really gushing over Guimaras’ mangoes! They are indeed the sweetest mangoes I’ve ever tasted! We didn’t took photos anymore as we’re really enjoying this mango pizza plus, we’re too hungry too!

It’s closed since it’s a holiday, the national elections are currently held so we just stroll around the plaza. Too bad we went here early, the Mango Festival will take place in two days! So most of the people here are busy decorating and preparing the plaza.

The Guisi Lighthouse (Faro de Punta Luzaran) is an 18th Century lighthouse and wow I was so amazed with the structure and the view! As much as I want to get a view from the top, I was too scared to go up the old light house, yikes hihi.  I was already seeing a scenic view of white strip of sand and crystal clear, emerald green water below the hill upon entering the Guisi Lighthouse Ruins.

We decided to head to the Guisi Beach after visiting the Guisi Lighthouse Ruins. Before we got here, we checked Alubihod Beach which is the usual choice when in the island, but we something secluded. So we decided to stay at Guisi Beach for our beach bumming since it’s more secluded, it’s definitely the perfect hideaway. Guisi Beach is really Guimaras’ well-kept paradise!

We stayed at Guisi Clearwater Resort. It’s pretty much a simple resort for beach bumming, not for luxury and comfort. We didn’t mind actually if you have this beach that’s so perfect! I can’t express how much I love this beach so much! We stayed here until the morning and enjoyed this whole place to ourselves, yup we’re that lucky!

Wish I could stay longer, I’m definitely coming back!
